In Norse mythology, Skoll is a giant disguised as a wolf who hunts the sun. Hate is the wolf said to run ahead of the Sun to catch her, but it is actually the Moon he wants to catch. At Ragnarök (the end of the world), the two wolves finally catch up with their prey and devour them.
