Alle våre glassperler er håndlagde på tradisjonell måte. Mønstre og farger er ikke malt på, men er laget av smeltet glass som er viklet rundt en gipsdyppet stålstang. Allerede i vikingtiden ble vi nordlendinger forelsket i det vakre uttrykket til glassperler og det er en kjærlighet vi deler med resten av verden. Prosessen vi bruker i dag er nesten identisk med den vikingene brukte. Selv om vi i Skandinavia ikke hadde funnet ut hvordan vi skulle lage glass. Slik finner du tusenvis av intrikate og for det meste lokallagde glassperler, uansett hvor du ser hvor vikingene har reist. Glasset og noen ferdige perler ble importert fra Østen. I dag foregår produksjonen av perlene i Nord-India, i en liten landsby ikke langt fra bredden av Gagne. Der er kunnskapen om å lage glassperler noe folk er veldig stolte av og hvor perlemesterne drømmer om at deres hemmeligheter kan gå i arv til neste generasjon. Og ettersom bevisstheten øker blant mennesker og kunder over hele verden som etterspør smykker i slitesterke og håndlagde design, er det kanskje ikke lenger bare en drøm.

Details

All our glass beads are handmade in the traditional way. Patterns and colors are not painted on, but are created from molten glass that is wrapped around a plaster-dipped steel rod.
Already during the Viking Age, we northerners fell in love with the beautiful expression of glass beads and it is a love we share with the rest of the world. The process we use today is almost identical to the one the Vikings used. Even though we in Scandinavia hadn't figured out how to make glass. This is how you find thousands of intricate and mostly locally made glass beads, wherever you look where the Vikings have traveled. The glass and some finished beads were imported from the East.

Today, the production of the pearls takes place in northern India, in a small village not far from the shores of Gagne. There, the knowledge of making glass beads is something that people are very proud of and where the bead masters dream that their secrets can be passed down to the next generation.
And as awareness increases among people and customers around the world who demand jewelry in durable and handmade designs, it may no longer be just a dream.
