Cow horn is a fantastic material that until about 100 years ago
användes flitigt till många saker.
När plasten kom ersatte den horn i många bruksföremål, som man
traditionellt tillverkat för hand.
Förr gjorde man bl.a. skedar,
kammar, glassögonbågar och scow horn i just horn.
Our horn products are handcrafted with great skill in a small village in northeastern India. The horns are cleaned, sorted, boiled, and sanded before being shaped into beautiful crafts.
Horn är mycket starkt och helt
compostable — a sustainable material for both you and the environment. All horns used in Nordlys production are a byproduct of the meat industry and come from domestic cattle.

Goods in horn are washed by hand with water and detergent. They should not be washed in a dishwasher and cannot be microwaved either. Horn is a natural material that has many properties in common with wood. It can therefore dry out over time. Feel free to treat with wood oil if necessary or once or twice a year for preventive purposes. For glass and other items that will come into contact with food, we recommend that you use a wood oil that is intended for kitchen utensils or the like.
