All our glass beads are handmade in the traditional way. Patterns and colors are not painted on, but are created from molten glass that is wrapped around a plaster-dipped steel rod.
Already during the Viking Age, we northerners fell in love with the beautiful expression of glass beads and it is a love we share with the rest of the world. The process we use today is almost identical to the one the Vikings used. Even though we in Scandinavia hadn't figured out how to make glass. This is how you find thousands of intricate and mostly locally made glass beads, wherever you look where the Vikings have traveled. The glass and some finished beads were imported from the East.

Today, the production of the pearls takes place in northern India, in a small village not far from the shores of Gagne. There, the knowledge of making glass beads is something that people are very proud of and where the bead masters dream that their secrets can be passed down to the next generation.
